Everyone Of Us Has A Story

BIAW wants to hear your brain injury story!

Whether a survivor, family member, professional or supporter of brain injury, we think EVERYONE deserves the chance to share their experience with brain injury. We believe that every voice deserves to be heard, and that stories can help us find the courage, strength, and hope to move forward after brain injury. Thank you for joining us on this journey, and for supporting the
Brain Injury Association of Wisconsin.

If you would like to submit your story for consideration, please email Kathryn at paulsoka@uwec.edu

We would like to start off our new series with a powerful story from then nine-year old Ethan Lehman as told by his mother, Kara Lehman. They both spoke at BIAW’s 2025 Annual Conference and it was pretty amazing. Ethan has come a long way and his parents have become superstars in advocacy for Ethan.

“Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.”

All stories and photos were written/taken by survivors, or family members/caregivers or BIAW staff and permission to post was given to the BIAW. Please do not share beyond this site without permission. We do encourage you to connect with us if you have any concerns or questions. Thank you!

They had gone to the woods to collect cut firewood in the morning, took a break for lunch, and then headed back to finish up for the day.
