Brain In-Com 2026

UW-Eau Claire’s speech, language, and hearing sciences department hosted Brain In-Com alongside the Brain Injury Association of Wisconsin. The program represents a week of care for those with brain injuries, as well as a learning experience for UW-Eau Claire Speech Language Pathology undergrad and graduate students. Journey Mapping, Brain Lab, collages, dual task exercise, music, and a community advocacy project to help promote Brain Injury Friendly business practices were just a few of the highlights.

A big thank you to the UW-Eau Claire Kinesiology Dept. and Dr. Saori Braun for putting together a great program, to Senator Jeff Smith for his time spent listening and learning from the participants, as well as Dr. Louise Keegan, from the School of Rehabilitation Sciences at Moravian University and Dr. Warren Brown, from the Dept. of Communication Disorders from Jackson State University in Jackson Mississippi for helping lead survivors, caregivers and students through this insightful week! Some of the words participants and staff/students used to describe the week were “enlightening” “collaborative” “thought-provoking” “person-centered” and “life-changing”
