Residential Resources in Wisconsin

The following definitions were taken from Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services:

Adult Family Home is a place where 3 or 4 adults who are not related to the operator reside and receive care, treatment or services that are above the level of room and board and that may include up to 7 hours per week of nursing care per resident.

There are 3 sizes of CBRFs; small (5-8), medium (9-20), and large (21 or more). Group homes are considered to be small CBRFs.

Foster Care is a possibility where a child may be placed, by the county, to another residence.

Skilled Nursing Facility (Nursing Home) is a residential facility that provides 24-hour services, including room and board to 3 or more unrelated persons. These persons require more than 7 hours a week of nursing care due to their physical or mental condition.
